The 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is nothing but a disaster that needs serious attention. The Coast Guard is currently working to take care of the situation by burning certain portions of the massive spill, which is five times larger than they originally thought. A total of 5000 barrels of Petrol leaked out each day that has passed leaving a spill the size of Jamaica off the coast of Louisiana. The Governor of Louisiana has asked for some emergency assistance.
A press conference was held and Mary Landry of the Coast Guard reported that there were a total of three locations where Petrol was leaking from, causing this horrific spill. It is affecting approximately a 50-mile area, serving as the cause of deaths of millions upon millions of sea life and it is only getting worse. NASA released some photographs on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 showing the severity of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
