Racing sausages take on the lottery.wisconsin lottery powerball
The famous Klement's Famous Racing Sausages have branched out to the Wisconsin Lottery.
The sausages, best known for their race in the sixth inning of every home game at Miller Park, are featured in a new $3 scratch game from the Wisconsin Lottery. The game, of course, features a sausage race. Players can also enter a prize giveaway associated with the game by going to the Lottery's website.
Andrew Bohage, a spokesman for the Wisconsin Lottery, said the game was offered after discussions with Klement's Sausage Co., the Milwaukee Brewers, Major League Baseball and Scientific Games, a New York City lottery industry company. He said Major League Baseball controls the licensing rights for the Famous Racing Sausages, which it made available for lottery use through Scientific Games.
In all, the lottery is paying Scientific Games $69,597 for the licensing rights associated with the Famous Racing Sausages.
Ads featuring the Famous Racing Sausages being put through training by a fitness instructor have been appearing on Milwaukee-area television stations in recent days to promote the new lottery game.
The prizes include four 20-game ticket package for the 2011 season; a suite at a Brewers game, a Miller Park VIP experience and a year's supply of Klement's sausage. Bohage said the lottery did not pay the Brewers for the merchandise prizes given away in the Web drawing.
Bohage said the new game will only be a one-time offering from the lottery.
The Green Bay Packers set up a similar deal last year with the lottery. As part of that deal, the state paid the Packers $467,000 as part of the launching of the state’s new scratch-off game. According to documents provided to The Business Journal, the Wisconsin Lottery agreed to pay $260,000 for the right to use the Packers’ name and logo on the scratch-off game and $207,000 for various Packers’ prizes, such as game tickets and merchandise.
