United Kingdom general election of 2010 is being held today, 6 May to elect one Member of Parliament in each of the 650 constituencies to the House of Commons, the lower house of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
More than 44 million people are registered to vote. Polling stations opened in 649 constituencies at 0700 BST and close at 2200 BST. Gordon Brown, who voted around 11:15 this morning, sent an email to supporters advice them to spend an hour today encouraging people to vote Labour.
The party who will win Thursday’s General Election will turn the fortune of the world’s 5th largest economy. Polling is set to close at 10pm tonight after opening at 7am.
