These days, Charlie Hunnam is best-known for his unconvincing American accent in the FX motorcycle gang series Sons of Anarchy, but the Green Street Hooligans star might be returning to film in Guillermo Del Toro's newest movie, Pacific Rim.
Hunnam is currently in discussions to play the lead in the movie, which involves giant monsters trying to destroy the Earth. Deadline reports that the planet's inhabitants will band together to repel the beasts using high-tech weaponry, hopefully mounted to some totally bitchin' hogs.
Up until semi-recently, Del Toro's next project was set to the H.P. Lovecraft adaptation At the Mountains of Madness, starring Tom Cruise. While Pacific Rim probably won't feature Cthulhu, Yog-Sothoth or any of the rest, the fact that there will at least be unfathomable monstrosities of some kind goes a long way toward mollifying us. The film's script was written by Travis Beacham, who most recently found excuses for people to fight monsters with the screenplay for Clash of the Titans.
