One of the University of Pennsylvania’s captain was found dead in his off-campus residence in Philadelphia, university officials said.
The university spokeswoman Lori Doyle said the junior Owen Thomas was found dead at 2 p.m.. She said the cause of death had not been determined but no foul play is suspected.”
Thomas, of Allentown, Pa., was voted one of Quakers’ captains earlier this month. A 6-foot-2, 240-pound defensive end, Thomas was a second-team all-Ivy League player in 2009, recording 29 tackles and finishing second in the league with six sacks.
